Run a mini-masterclass at the 2018 Gathering!
If you were at the 2017 NineDots Gathering you might remember us announcing at the end that we would be inviting applications from within the NineDots community to present a mini-masterclass at the 2018 NineDots Gathering! Well the time has finally come for us to open up applications as we begin to finalise the presenter lineup and schedule for this year’s main event!
Why are we doing this?
We strongly believe in promoting the amazing photographers within the NineDots community and giving people who want to get into the ‘speaker circuit’ a chance to get on stage.
What’s a mini-masterclass?
The NineDots Gathering is made up of 1 hour presentations on the mainstage, and 30 minute mini-masterclasses in our mini-masterclass zone. The mini-masterclasses can be either practical sessions or inspirational presentations and they take place within the official ‘breaks’ during the Gathering so people can choose whether to socialise/play ping-pong or attend a mini-masterclass. We introduced the mini-masterclass concept in 2016 and they’ve become an immensely popular element of the Gathering.
Previous mini-masterclass presenters include Mauricio Arias (live shoot), Fer Juaristi (live shoot), Aga Tomaszek (Editing), Ross Harvey (Pricing), Maarten Devoldere (Personal Projects), Alan Law (Documentary), Kristi Odom (Personal Projects), Blair DeLaubenfels (Business), Jeff Cooke + Jenn Nauss (Critique), Maciej Suwalowski (Branding), Davina + Daniel Kudish (Editing), Andy Gaines + Adam Johnson (Critique) and more!
Who can apply?
We’re inviting anyone within the NineDots community to apply! So that’s all previous workshop attendees, Gathering attendees and current NineDots members.
What if I’m selected?
If you’re selected to present you’ll be officially invited by us, and paid the same rate as the other mini-masterclass presenters. If you’ve already bought a ticket to the 2018 Gathering this will be refunded. You’ll be asked to present your mini-masterclass up to two times, as sometimes we split the group for a more intimate feel to the mini-masterclasses.
How does the process work?
As part of the application form you’ll be asked for a title/synopsis of the mini-masterclass you’re proposing so give it some thought as we will be choosing entirely based on this – not based on your name or any existing industry reputations!
How do I apply and what’s the deadline?
We’ve got an application form which you can access here. Good luck! Any questions, drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org – the closing date for applications is 31st August 2018.
