Before photography I’ve had a career as a singer. I’ve been lucky enough to sing at Buckingham Palace, Carnegie Hall, Abbey Road etc but as soon as some of the execs in the industry heard I also sing on cruise ships they saw me in a different light. They thought I was a sell out with no artistic merit – but the reality is that working on cruise ships requires a whole skill set of it’s own and it far more challenging that most of the “fancy” concerts I have done. I quickly noticed exactly the same kind of snobbery and ignorance in the photographic industry. I’ve met a lot of people who thing wedding photography is a sell out. Just for the money. For people who can’t do any other kind of photography. I actually had someone tell me once that “wedding photography is for losers”. They’re wrong. And this little talk with prove it.
