I’m Roo Stain a wedding photographer and videographer based in the West Midlands. I started my photography business in 2015 not long after getting married myself, my goal was to create wonderful images for my couples that captured not only how their big day looked but also how it felt, allowing them to relive it over and over.
I developed a business I was super proud of and was two time winner of the Best Wedding Photographer in the West Midlands at The Wedding Industry Awards, but in 2019 I decided to completely switch up my business and move into videography instead. I have created a style of filmmaking that really compliments how I used to shoot photo, a minimal approach that focuses on the moments and story rather than an obsession with the latest gear and fancy effects. I believe my knowledge and experience as a photographer has helped me fast track my videography business to success and I’m really looking forward to passing on what I have learnt during my mini-masterclass at NineDots.

The Pivot - Wedding Filmmaking for Photographers
My mini-masterclass will teach photographers how they can use what they already know and the gear they already have to be able to produce high quality wedding films.
I will be breaking down the myths of shooting video for weddings and highlighting which ‘rules’ can be ignored and how a simple approach that complements how you already shoot as a photographer can produce stunning results.
With practical advice and a few ‘hacks’ I will demonstrate how the insight we have as photographers can be leaned on to give us an advantage over traditional videographers allowing you to offer a service that adds real value to your current business.
